<p>Apart from many other health insurance policies National Insurance Company Limited also has a health insurance policy exclusively for students called “Vidyarthi – medi-claim for students”.    </p>
<p>The<b>SALIENT FEATURES</b> of this policy are:</p>
<p>· It provides health and personal accident cover to students</p>
<p>· It also provides for continuation of the insured student’s education in case of death or permanent total disablement of the guardian due to an accident</p>
<p>· Students from the age of 3 years to 25 years can take this policy</p>
<p>· Expenses of hospitalization for minimum period of 24 hours are admissible</p>
<p>· The above time limit is not applicable to specific treatments such as day care treatment for stitching of wounds, close reduction and application of POP casts, dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, eye surgery, ENT surgery, laparoscopic surgery, angiographies, endoscopies, lithotripsy and tonsillectomy</p>
<p>· Pre-hospitalization expenses incurred up to 30 days prior to hospitalization are covered</p>
<p>· Post-hospitalization expenses incurred up to 60 days after hospitalization will be reimbursed</p>
<p>· Pre-existing will be covered after 3 continuous claim free years</p>

<p><b><u>SCOPE OF COVER FOR PERSONAL ACCIDENT TO STUDENT AND GUARDIAN OF STUDENT:</u></b></p>
<p>· If insured person sustains any bodily injury resulting from accident caused by external violent and visible means then the company will pay the sum insured</p>
<p>· If the injury as above within 12 calendar months is the cause of death then the company will give capital sum insured</p>
<p>· If the injury as above within 12 calendar months is the cause of total and irrecoverable loss of sight of both eyes or total and irrecoverable loss of use of two hands or two feet, or of one hand and one foot or of such loss of sight of one eye and such loss of use of one hand or one foot, the capital sum insured is payable</p>
<p>· If the injury as above within 12 calendar months is the cause of total and irrecoverable loss of sight of one eye or total and irrecoverable loss of use of a hand or foot, 50% of capital sum insured is payable</p>
<p><b><u>EXCLUSIONS UNDER HOSPITALIZATION:</u></b></p>
<p>National India Insurance is not liable to make any payment in respect of any expenses incurred in connection with:</p>
<p>· All diseases/injuries those are pre-existing when the cover incepts for the first time</p>
<p>· Any disease other than diabetes and hypertension that is contracted during the first 30 days from the commencement date of the policy except in case of hospitalization due to an accidental injury</p>
<p>· If the insured is aware of the existence of a congenital internal disease/defect before inception of the policy, it is treated as pre-existing</p>
<p>· Injury or disease caused due to war invasion</p>
<p>· Circumcision unless necessary for treatment of a disease </p>
<p>· Cost of spectacles, contact lenses and hearing aids</p>
<p>· Any dental treatment or surgery which is a corrective, cosmetic or aesthetic procedure, including wear and tear, unless arising from accidental injury and which requires hospitalization for treatment</p>
<p>· Convalescence general debility “run down” condition or rest cure, congenital external disease or defects or anomalies, sterility, venereal disease, intentional self injury and use of intoxicating drugs/alcohol</p>
<p>· All expenses arising out of any condition due to AIDS</p>
<p>· Charges incurred at a hospital/nursing home for diagnostic, X-ray or laboratory examinations not consistent with any ailment, sickness or injury</p>
<p>· Expenses on vitamins and tonics unless forming part of treatment for injury or disease</p>
<p>· Injury or disease caused by nuclear weapons or materials</p>
<p>· Treatment arising from pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, abortion or complications of caesarean section</p>
<p>· Any treatment other than allopathic system of medicine</p>
<p><b><u>EXCLUSIONS UNDER ACCIDENT:</u></b></p>
<p>· Death from intentional self injury, suicide or attempted suicide</p>
<p>· Death whilst under influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs</p>
<p>· Death whilst engaging in aviation or ballooning or traveling in an aircraft other than as a passenger</p>
<p>· Death caused by venereal disease or insanity</p>
<p>· Death arising from committing any breach of law with criminal intent</p>
<p>· Death due to war, invasion, civil war, rebellion, mutiny, seizure, captures, etc</p>
<p>· Death from ionizing radiations or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste</p>
<p>· Death or disablement caused by prolonged conditions during childbirth or pregnancy</p>
<p><b>ADDITIONAL BENEFITS</b>of taking a health insurance policy from National Insurance Company Limited are:</p>
<p>· It is a public sector company so it is perceived to be safer by quite a few people</p>
<p>· Sum insured under this policy shall be progressively increased by 5% in respect of each claim free year subject to a maximum of 10 claim free years of insurance</p>
<p>· The policyholder also has the option of taking a 5% discount in the premium instead of the cumulative bonus</p>
